Each session will run for approximately 90 minutes.
Purpose of the Symposium:
This event has been developed to provide FIA accredited CPD content including:
- Providing a clear, practical understanding of current and emerging PFAS legislation
- Clarify compliance requirements impacting service, maintenance, and installation activities
- Support partners in managing the technical challenges of transitioning to non‑fluorinated foams
- Enable informed decision-making regarding system design, upgrades, and lifecycle management

Gerard Visser
Business Development Manager Foam Products
Gerard Visser is a Business Development Manager for Foam Products at Johnson Controls, with 28 years of international experience in firefighting foam and fire suppression systems. Throughout his career, Gerard has held senior technical and commercial roles including Project Engineer/Manager, Sales Engineer, and Sales Director for Foam Systems.
He is widely recognized for his deep expertise in foam system design, regulatory compliance, and the transition from PFAS‑based foams to fluorine‑free alternatives. Gerard actively contributes to the development of industry standards and best practices as a member of several leading technical and regulatory bodies, including the EN1568 and EN13565 CEN Expert Committees, the Dutch Foam Working Group, FVN PFAS Focus, JOIFF (supporting member), and the PGS14 Working Group.
With a career spanning engineering, sales leadership, and standards development, Gerard brings a practical, regulation‑driven perspective to helping fire protection stakeholders navigate safe, compliant, and future‑proof PFAS transitions.
